  • Cobb Pinot Noir Emmaline Ann Vineyard 2016 -- 1500ml

Cobb Pinot Noir Emmaline Ann Vineyard 2016

    • Tasting Notes

A brilliantly clear ruby red Pinot Noir, the 2016 Emmaline Ann offers aromas of pomegranate, wild strawberry, and tangerine zest with secondary notes of damp forest floor. On the palate, hints of wild Rainier cherries linger with brilliant structure and smooth tannins that are finely integrated. Currently sitting at the intersection of freshness and deep fruit intensity, it's to be enjoyed in its youth and for many years to come.

    • The Vineyard

Year after year, our Emmaline Ann Pinot Noir is always one of my favorite wines. With a southwest exposure and some of the finest soils on the Sonoma Coast, the 3-acre Emmaline Ann Vineyard is a tiny gem. Because it gets the most fog of any of our vineyards in the Freestone Valley, it has a nerve and sophistication that I love. At the same time, that cool coastal sunshine that shapes the far Sonoma Coast yields a vibrant wine with pure, lovely layers of fruit.

    • Accolades

"Located in the Sonoma Coast AVA, the Emmaline Anne Vineyard is planted to Dijon clone 115 and 777. The wine begins with intense aromas of black truffle crudo, cigar ash, and wild blackberry cobbler with a touch of citrus rind. The palate has a wonderful viscosity and texture, leading to dark fruit and citrus rind driven flavors that connect with beautiful earthy undertones. Highly complex and downright delicious, this terroir driven effort is drinking marvelously right now." Drink 2019-2030

"The 2016 Pinot Noir Emmaline Ann Vineyard is pale ruby in color with a singular nose of tart red cherries, black berries, cranberry and strawberry aromas that open to a wicked line of crushed rock minerality plus notes of smoke, earth and bitter peel. Light to medium-bodied, savory black and red fruits wrapped with layers of smoky spice fill the mouth. It's framed by firm, grainy tannins and juicy acidity to lift the long, layered finish."
      Robert Parker's Wine Advocate May 2019 - 92+ Points

“The 2016 Emmaline-Ann Vineyard is dark and powerful, with more of a distinct sense of whole cluster savoriness and to match its insistent structural feel. Pine, mint, black cherry, citrus, licorice and dried flowers add aromatic intrigue to this dark, beautifully layered Pinot Noir. This is another stellar wine from Ross Cobb.”
Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media May 2019 - 94 Points

"Earthy and stemmy, this opens in an effusive bouquet of wild strawberry and lavender, with a forest of pine encircling the aromas. Delicately built, with a strong underlying foundation of firm tannin, it buzzes on the palate in white pepper, nutmeg and crisp tangerine."
