Overlooking the Freestone Valley near Occidental, Jack Hill is the steepest site we work with, and one of the coldest. Surrounded by dense oak forests and Douglas Firs, it is planted to three clones of Pinot Noir on a west-facing slope. What we always love about this vineyard is its ability to yield such a graceful and complex Pinot Noir. To accentuate its complexity and tannic structure, we fermented this wine using 30% whole clusters. All of these factors resulted in a wine with beautiful layers of spice and earthy minerality that will appeal to those who appreciate great Burgundies.
