  • Cobb Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard 2013 -- 750ml

Cobb Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard 2013

    • Tasting Notes

Beautiful coastal aromas of pine and moist forest floor add nuance to notes of cherry and orange spice tea. On the palate, crisp acidity and seamless tannins from 30 months of French oak aging carry this wine to a smooth finish with hints of strawberry and rosewater.

    • The Vineyard

In 2012, we took the two blocks that usually make up our Coastlands Vineyard Pinot Noir and bottled them as our Old Firs Block and 1906 Block Pinot Noirs. The Old Firs Block was named one of “100 Best Wines of the Year” and earned 95 points from Wine & Spirits, and the 1906 Block received 93 points and was highlighted when Wine & Spirits honored Cobb Wines as one of the “Top 100 Wineries of 2015.” As fantastic as those block wines were, in 2013, we thought that the blocks were even better blended together. Adding to this wine’s allure, 30 months of French oak aging has ensured that it is beautifully concentrated and complex.

    • Accolades

“The 2013 Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard opens with a rush of exotic aromatics. Orange peel, star anise, cinnamon, mint and dried flowers soar out of the glass. The 50-60% whole clusters add intense aromatics…Ross Cobb gave the 2013 30 months in barrel, which is quite long for Pinot. Readers should expect a wild, eccentric wine that is a sort of roller coaster. There is certainly no shortage of intrigue or personality."
      Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

“Anyone seeking out great Pinot Noir would do well to look for two words on the label.Sonoma County—it’s arguably America’s greatest Pinot Noir region. Thanks to the brisk ocean breezes of the far Sonoma Coast, or the morning fog that creeps over the Russian River Valley, the climate could not have been better designed for this cool-weather-loving variety.”
