  • Cobb Pinot Noir Jack Hill Vineyard 2012 -- 750ml

Cobb Pinot Noir Jack Hill Vineyard 2012

    • Tasting Notes

This is an alluring wine filled with vibrant red fruit, including layers of raspberry and fresh cherry pie, as well as sophisticated secondary aromas of sandalwood, leather and minerals. On the palate, crisp acidity adds structure and poise to the rich fruit.

    • The Vineyard

We have had the pleasure of working with Jack Hill Vineyard since 2007. Overlooking the Freestone Valley near Occidental, it is the steepest site we work with, and one of the coldest. Surrounded by dense oak forests and Douglas Firs, Jack Hill is planted to three clones of Pinot Noir on a west-facing slope. While it always yields a graceful and complex coastal Pinot Noir, with nerve and minerality, the 2012 vintage is also one of the most generous expressions of the vineyard we have ever produced. Similar to the Diane Cobb, we used 35% whole clusters during fermentation, adding to the wine’s complexity and tannic structure.

    • Accolades

"The 2012 Pinot Noir Jack Hill Vineyard is a very pretty, perfumed wine. Dried cherry, rose petal, mint and anise grace the palate. This is an especially light to medium-bodied Pinot that emphasizes floral an spice notes, while the fruit is pushed more into the background. The 2012 was done with 35% whole clusters and spent 22 months in barrel."
